Updates

We are upgrading the play space at Rayner Reserve, Oak Park. The initial round of consultation has been completed and we have responded to your feedback with the draft designs below.

What we have heard

Your feedback contained some key themes around supporting play for a broad range of ages, accessibility, nature-based play, water play, native and sensory planting, shade provision, swings, slides and climbing equipment. We have tried our best to address all of these items within the design and we would appreciate your feedback on the plans below to further refine the design. Option A provides for a younger age range (approx 1-12) , where Option B would provide for a broader range (approx. 1-16).

What we cannot provide at this stage

The project has real constraints around space and budget. Some of the feedback was also outside of the scope of the project which only relates to the play space renewal.

Water play and shade structures were beyond the budget of this project. As is the provision of toilets which are very costly. Sporting equipment is outside the scope of the project as is road works such as crossings and traffic calming (however we will will be discussing these issues with Councils roads team).

Fencing

We have spoken to several residents about the changes to fencing and gates and will continue to monitor this situation. We hope that the provision of barrier fencing will address the issue. Feel free to contact me if you have ongoing concerns, however the feedback below is not the forum for this discussion.

Draft Play Space Designs

Below are two draft design proposals for your feedback. Please keep in mind that these are both draft designs and are meant to convey possibilities for the space taking into consideration the feedback so far. It does not have to be a choice between one or the other.
