Project updates

A final concept plan has been prepared for the renewal of play equipment at Harmony Park based upon feedback provided by the community. We have incorporated this feedback into the design within the limits of the budget and present a final draft for comment. The main areas of feedback received from the community relating to the play space were; replacement of old equipment, more nature play, water play, more swings, reduction in gravel and increase in planting and shade trees, more climbing structures and fencing to playground.

In order to address these desires, we have provided the following;

  • Fencing added between playground and carpark
  • Existing monkey bars area to be removed and replaced with nature play (one set of monkey bars and swing bars to be retained and repaired).
  • Additional planting to perimeter with shade trees.
  • Rock/log edging and steppers to garden beds.
  • Existing tower structure and bridges to be removed and replaced with large tower unit.
  • New, large multi-directional basket swing to be provided.
  • Existing drinking fountain to be replaced and relocated closer to play area.
  • New hand water pump with water channel connecting to wetland area.

Outdoor fitness equipment will also be installed at Harmony Park, with support from the Victorian State Government Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

We would like to hear about your experiences in Harmony Park and your feedback on the draft concept plan. Join the conversation!

Vampress says:

Love the new plan. Being the park is dog friendly, maybe some sensory or exercise equipment could be added for dogs away from main area too?

Love the water play aspect and additional trees. In the future would like to see the gravel area reduced and more shade/trees planted.

We would like more trees in the park to provide canopy. The park should be renamed to add Woiwurrung meaning of Harmony and acknowledgement

Natasha says:

Please consider installing shading, not just trees. Particularly above swings.

Marion Leigh says:

Moreland Council should first consult with DET to consider giving some land to Coburg SDS school, so the school can expand it's boundary.

Jackie says:

There also needs to be play equipment for older kids. There is a primary school next to the park, older kids use the park too.

Althea says:

Maybe you could make a basket swing that only moves back and forth. I find that omni-directional ones can make you feel sick when they turn.

Cagla Ekinci says:

Could we please have night lights around the play ground. More tables and chairs to sit/eat

Kelly says:

Lovely! Also a perfect place for a little pump track - safer than the skate park and would work in well with the nearby school and bike path

Gsimaguire says:

Replace tan bark in exsisting boat/seasaw area with softball rubber. The bark clogs the boat a lot and is packed so high no one can seasaw.
